Kansas City Chiefs add more (questionable) talent with Allen Bailey

Boom or bust could be the definitive cliche for the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2011 NFL Draft.

The team has certainly added talent in wide receiver Jon Baldwin, guard/center Rodney Hudson, linebacker Justin Houston and defensive lineman Allen Bailey. However, other than Hudson, each player comes with plenty of questions about work ethic.

Each has a chance to be stellar. But if Baldwin, Houston and Bailey fail, they’re going to fail hard. They’re all athletic marvels. As a draft analyst, they make nerds like me drool. But CBS NFL Draft analyst Chad Reuter referred to the picks perfectly.

"The Chiefs are picking like the Bengals right now," Reuter said on Twitter.

Bailey in particular is a good scheme fit in the Chiefs’ 3-4. At Miami, he played end and tackle, but was much better inside. A majority, if not all, of his career sacks came from the tackle spot. So playing in a 3-4 like Kansas City uses will suit him well. The question about Bailey is that he doesn’t always play hard. Bailey has first-round talent but late-round ethic at times. That’s what landed him in the third round.
