Everybody's waiting for the jig to be up, but the jig isn't up just yet. On Thursday, the Cleveland Indians hosted the Kansas City Royals in the finale of a three-game series, and the Indians blasted four home runs against Kyle Davies in winning 8-2 and finishing their sweep.
Royals Vs. Indians: Cleveland Bashes Four Home Runs, Completes Sweep
Cleveland's bats got going almost immediately. With two outs in the bottom of the first, Shin-Soo Choo ripped a solo homer to center field. Moments later, Carlos Santana knocked one out to right.
The Royals struggled against Fausto Carmona, and the Indians would only add to their lead. Grady Sizemore hit a solo shot in the third - his fourth home run of the young season - and Shelley Duncan led off the fourth with Cleveland's fourth solo home run of the game. As if that weren't bad enough, five of the next six batters after Duncan reached base, and Davies was pulled with the deficit having been extended to eight.
The Royals finally got on the board in the seventh, on a two-run double by Wilson Betemit, but that was all, and a short time after that, Justin Germano put the finishing touches on the blowout. In their three-game sweep, the Indians outscored the Royals 24-8.
