The Detroit Red Wings made a strong comeback in the third period of Game 5 to force Tuesday night's Game 6 against the San Jose Sharks, and now that they're back home, they can pull even closer to doing something only four pro sports teams have ever done -- come back from 0-3 down in a series.
Sharks Vs. Red Wings, Game 6: Ryane Clowe, Johan Franzen Out In Must-Win Game For Detroit
Of course, we've heard this before. The Philadelphia Flyers did it a year ago, but the Chicago Blackhawks fell just short in the first round this year against Vancouver. The Red Wings series with the Sharks, though, seems a little more similar to that of the Flyers with the Bruins in 2010.
All the games, even the three losses to start the series, were close games. That’s reason for optimism in Detroit and reason for pessimism in San Jose, but at the same time, that means that Game 6 could really go either way. As the tide has turned in the series, the tide really hasn’t turned all that much. Six close games.
We should expect more of that at Joe Louis Arena on Tuesday night. There are injuries to touch on in advance of this one. Ryane Clowe is out of the lineup for the Sharks. Details aren't exactly clear on that front, but David Pollak of Working The Corners reports that it's an upper-body injury and it occurred in Game 5.
Detroit will be without Johan Franzen in Game 6. He'll be replaced by Mike Modano, who has played just one other game this postseason.
The puck drops at 8 p.m. ET on Tuesday, and you can catch the action VERSUS and TSN. For more on the Wings, check in with Winging It In Motown and SB Nation Detroit. For more on the Sharks, check in with Fear The Fin and SB Nation Bay Area.
