College GameDay 2011 Kicks Off Texas-Style

Jerry Jones may not be able to strongarm the Cotton Bowl’s way into the BCS games just yet, but look for him to put on one hell of a cotillion to steal all the early-season spotlight: Oregon and LSU will give the Chick-fil-A Kickoff a run for its money in terms of spectacle with a neutral-site season opener at the Jerrydome. A standout in an opening weekend full of marquee games has a title, and GameDay has its kickoff: ESPN officials announced at today’s upfronts (the WWL was the first cable channel to ever book time at the television networks’ regularly-scheduled junkets) that Kirk, Chris, Erin, and the rest of the merry gang will kick off their 2011 Saturday broadcast slate with an all-day affair in Arlington surrounding what we’re apparently insisting on calling the Cowboys Classic.
