With the All-Star Racing this weekend, The Nationwide Series will race Sunday. Not only that, but the entry list has only 3 Cup guys on it! That’s it. There are also two Camping World Truck drivers on it, Austin Dillon and James Buescher.
Nationwide heads to the Northwest: The John Deere Dealers 250 from Iowa Speedway

With only Michael McDowell, Brad Keselowski and Carl Edwards making the trip from Charlotte to Iowa (McDowell will note be in the All-Star Showdown) it looks like another great chance for a Nationwide-only Winner. Because Busch, Logano and Hamlin will not be racing don’t think that Edwards or Keso will just run away with this race either as Nationwide regulars Stenhouse, Sadler and Reed Sorenson are all favorites to end the Cup-only winner streak this Sunday.
The Rusty Wallace designed Iowa Speedway held it’s first Nationwide event in 2009 seeing Brad Keselowski taking that first win. Last year it was Kyle Busch taking home the checkered. This 7/8th mile Richmond inspired track has been a crash fest the last two years, often involving multiple race cars. It’s an exciting track, and one that can only be seen in the Nationwide and Truck series. It should be a very fun event to watch, and one that I really feel will be won by a Nationwide-Only Driver. At Short Tracks, it’s less about how fast your car can go, and more about how well you can drive, and how well you can avoid trouble.

There are only 43 cars on the entry list, so as long as we do not get a late entry, everyone will make it.
- #02- Daryl Harr has withdrawn from event.
- #16- Trevor Bayne will return to racing this weekend, running both the All-Star Race and the race at Iowa. Chris Buescher will practice and qualify for Bayne. When the race begins, Bayne will start from the rear.
- #18- Michael McDowell will make his 2011 debut, and his debut for Joe Gibbs Racing. McDowell has a huge opportunity this weekend. If he impresses, he could turn this into a full time ride for the 2012 season. McDowell currently start and parks for HP Racing in the Cup Series and will most likely not be at Charlotte this weekend.
- #19- Mike Bliss returns to his team as Eric McClure returns to the #14 team. Both are now locked in.
- #20- Drew Herring, who last year drove a few races for Baker Curb, will get his first start of 2011 and his first with Joe Gibbs. Like McDowell, Herring is running for a full-time ride next year.
- #22- Brad Keselowski will have Sam Hornish Jr practice and qualify his car. Keso will start from the rear come Sunday.
- #30- James Buescher makes another start this week for his Father-in -aw. Buescher has been impressive in both the Truck Series and Nationwide.
- #33- Austin Dillon makes his second start of 2011 in Nationwide. His first ended in a 7th place finish. Dillon is proving week after week that he is a future star in our sport.
- #39- Luis Martinez, Jr brings his NASCAR K&N West sponsorship with him to make his very first NNS start. Martinez has yet to win a NASCAR race, but last year he had 3 top 5’s in the K&N West Series.
- #40- Key Motorsports is without a driver this week as Scott Wimmer will not run and start and park again. Key Motorsports will probably start to scale back and only run select races from here on out.
- #49- Dennis Setzer returns to the start and park Jay Robinson team this week.
- #52- Fresh off his ASA win this weekend, Tim Schendel returns to Jimmy Means Racing.
- #60- Carl Edwards will have Brian Ickler practice and qualify his team. Edwards will start from the rear on Sunday.
- #70- Scott Wimmer moves over to ML Motorsports. Wimmer has a chance to run very well this week as he has upgraded to a much stronger team.
- #79- Second Chance Racing is not entered this week, lack of Sponsorship has caused the team to close down. This could only be temporary however.
Join us this Sunday at 1:30 Eastern LIVE on ABC for the John Deere Dealers 250 from Iowa Speedway! Enjoy!
