The Mumbai Indians will face the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2011 playoffs at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Mumbai Indians take on Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2011 Eliminator at Wankhede
The winner of this game will play Royal Challengers Bangalore in the semi-final or the second qualifier as it is known this year. On the other hand, the losing side in this Mumbai-Kolkata game will be knocked out of the tournament and will be out of contention for a berth in the Champions League T20.
Interestingly, it was Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders who had met in the last league game of this season’s IPL on Sunday. The Mumbai Indians had looked beaten through most part of the game till the very end, when James Franklin and Ambati Rayadu combined to carve out 23 runs off the last over from L Balaji win them the game.
The win had not helped the Mumbai Indians too much because they were never in contention for the top two spots in the tournament, but it did mean that Kolkata’s chances of entering the Champions League T20 hinge on this particular game now.
Mumbai Indians had changed many things around in their playing eleven against the Knight Riders last game but they will look to play their main eleven for this one. The Knight Riders, despite those shenanigans that went against them in the last over, will look to play their same eleven.
Mumbai Indians versus Kolkata Knight Riders IPL 2011 Playoffs Eliminator will be played on May 25, 8.00 pm local time (1430 hours GMT).
