The Mumbai Indians will look to carry their momentum into the second qualifier against the Royal Challengers Bangalore, a game to decide which team enters the final of this year’s Indian Premier League.
Mumbai Indians Challenge Royal Challengers Bangalore In Second Qualifier For Place In IPL Final
The match will be played at the M Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
This is a knock-out game where the winning side will enter the final while the team losing the game will be knocked out, having to remain satiated with a place in the Champions League T20 alone.
Mumbai Indians got to this stage with a win over the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Eliminator on Wednesday, a narrow, last-over victory. On the other hand, the Royal Challengers Bangalore were beaten by the Chennai Super Kings in the first Qualifier, saved from elimination in the process thanks to their top finish in the points table earlier. A loss here will, however, end their campaign.
Given the enormity of the stage at which this contest is being held, one can expect the teams to go in with the same playing eleven as the previous game. However, with the Mumbai Indians struggling to contain the runs through their fifth bowling option, there could be a couple that may be changed around for them.
Bangalore will rely on Chris Gayle to get moving at the top, much like how he has throughout the tournament, but what will be a source of relief for the side is the manner in which they went about their scoring in the absence of a fruitful contribution from his bat last game.
Mumbai Indians versus Royal Challengers Bangalore IPL second Qualifier will take place on May 27. The game will begin at 8.00 pm local time or 1430 hours GMT.
