Tyler Gabbert To Transfer From Missouri

Missouri released a statement Monday morning announcing that Tyler Gabbert, familiar to you because his brother Blaine starred for the Tigers ahead of him and just went to the Jaguars in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft, will transfer out of the program for the ever-popular reason of "pursuing other playing opportunities:"

“We wish Tyler the best and will do everything we can to assist him going forward. He’s worked very hard in our program this past year, and we thank him for his efforts. Tyler is a high quality person and an outstanding football player.”

Missouri sports station KBIA reminds us that like Blaine, Gabbert The Younger was a late-breaking Mizzou commit who decamped from Nebraska. He burned his redshirt year last season, and finished spring practice second behind James Franklin, whose apparent asendency makes us want to see the Tigers play Vanderbilt in a very bad way.

Mizzou fans are discussing the move in this thread over at Rock M Nation; expect more up on the various Gabberts there today.
