Mixed martial arts continues its assault on the mainstream. The latest weapon in our plan to conquer the world is Warrior starring Tom Hardy (Inception) and directed by Gavin O’Connor (Miracle, Pride and Glory).
Poster Released For ‘Warrior’ Starring Tom Hardy
The film start Hardy as as ex-Marine who jumps into an MMA tournament because he needs the cash. Unfortunately his brother (played by Joel Edgerton) wants the cash too and also signs up. Nick Nolte plays the dad who takes Hardy's side and coaches him through the tournament.
Something tells me drama ensues.
Hardy brings more star power than MMA fans are used to seeing in a movie involving cage fighters. Moviefone says he’s the next big thing:
He takes roles that others would shy away from, characters who range from pathetic or unsympathetic to downright sociopathic, thieves and vagabonds and addicts alike. He’s drawn comparisons to Ewan McGregor, a similarly eclectic British star, but to me, Hardy seems far more reminiscent of another iconic character actor known specifically for playing against type: Johnny Depp.
Here's the trailer and you can check out the poster in the full entry.
