The folks over Walter Football put out a new mock draft on Wednesday. Predictably, Stanford's Andrew Luck goes first overall (to Washington) with USC's Matt Barkley going second to the Seattle Seahawks.
Rock out with your mock draft out: Walter Football
When looking at mocks at this time of the year, it’s hard to complain too much about where teams are picking or the players they’re being given. Instead, I tend to notice unique player placement.
For instance, they have South Carolina’s Devin Taylor in the first round. At a listed 6’7, 248 pounds, Taylor is clearly a specimen. But he’s also a prospect who needs to add strength to his frame. Last season he was an All-SEC first team player as a sophomore with 7.5 sacks and 12 tackles for loss. But it’s hard to see Taylor playing rush linebacker like the site suggests.
Like many mock drafts this time of the year, the picks are based mostly on what teams didn’t do in this year’s draft. Because of that, many teams are given cornerbacks or pass rushers.
Admirably, the site goes into the second round. Find round one here.
