The NBA Draft is behind us, and now it's the NHL's turn. On Friday evening, the 2011 NHL Draft kicks off in prime-time on Versus. The draft will stretch over two days: Friday is for the first round, Saturday is for the other six. The Edmonton Oilers hold the first pick in the draft and the Toronto Maple Leafs will have the final pick in the first round, acquired via a trade with the Stanley Cup champion Boston Bruins.
2011 NHL Draft: Time, Order, TV Information And More For Friday’s First Round
Here’s the rundown of Friday’s festivities.
Location: The NHL is invading Minnesota for the draft this year for the first time since 1989. The draft will be held at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, home of the Minnesota Wild. This is the first draft the Wild have hosted in franchise history.
Start time: The 2011 NHL Draft gets underway at 7 p.m. EDT. The draft is a two-day affair, with the first round set for Friday and round two through seven set for Saturday. Like the NFL and MLB Draft, the NHL will take to prime-time for
TV information: Versus has the broadcast rights to the 2011 NHL Draft and will hunker down for a four hour coverage window beginning at 7 p.m. EDT. Expect plenty of analysis, introductions and a lengthy affair for Friday’s first round.
