According to a Tweet from the UFC, the promotion has signed Japanese featherweight Hatsu Hioki. Hioki is currently ranked number two at featherweight by the USA TODAY/SBNation Consensus MMA Rankings. Until today, he has been widely regarded as the highest-ranked fighter not under Zuffa contract.

Hioki has a career professional record of 24-4-2. His most recent loss was a controversial decision loss to current UFC featherweight Michihiro Omigawa. Hioki holds wins over UFC featherweight title challenger Mark Hominick, in addition to victories over Jeff Curran, Marlon Sandro, Takeshi Inoue, Ronnie Mann and Rumina Sato.
Hioki has trained with UFC fighters Kenny Florian, Georges St. Pierre and more. There is no word yet on who he'll face in his UFC debut.
