Clemson WR Joe Craig Suspended From Track Team For Fight With Female Teammate

In a bit of late-breaking news out of the Palmetto State (and that's late in days, at this point), Clemson wide receiver Joe Craig has been suspended -- from the track team, not the football team -- for a May 22 "altercation" of the violent, stitches-requiring sort with a female teammate. No arrests have been made nor charges filed, so this flew out beneath the radar of even a large swath of the Clemson community.

The details of what sounds like an old-fashioned brawl between Craig and Marlena Wesh are in the Journal, and they make for a slightly gruesome read:

Following an argument at a pool party, the two argued twice, before Wesh cut Craig with an eyebrow razor that was “approximately six inches long” and had a serrated blade on the end of it.After that, Craig hit her in the head with a metal towel bar before hitting her while she was on the ground. The fight was then broken up, and all parties left the scene, according to the report.

Both athletes received stitches at a local hospital, Craig on his arm and Wesh on her head -- after which they both declined to press charges, chalking up their fight to “being teammates.” Nope, nothing out of the ordinary here. Moving right along!
