34 pitches into Thursday's game between the San Francisco Giants and Chicago Cubs, pitcher Carlos Zambrano left with lower back soreness.
Giants Vs. Cubs: Zambrano Leaves Game Due To Back Soreness
At the time, San Franciso led 1-0 and they held that lead until the 9th. Aramis Ramirez homered to deep left in the bottom of the ninth, making it 1-1 and sending the game into extra innings where it currently stands.
After a pitch to Eli Whiteside, Zambrano walked off the mound in pain. Catcher Koyie Hill and trainer Mark O'Neal met him at the mound and Zambrano soon made his way to the dugout. He was replaced by Marcos Mateo.
Zambrano has suffered from lower back pain in the past. In 2009, spasms landed him on the DL for over three weeks.
The Giants scored their run in the 2nd inning when Miguel Tejada singled, driving in Brandon Crawford.
