Following months of speculation, Arsenal FC have finally added a forward to their ranks, signing Cote D'Ivoire international Gervinho from Lille in Ligue 1. Gervinho, 24 years old, has combined for 31 goals and 14 assists in all competitions over his last two seasons at Lille. Last season, he helped them to a league and cup double, as they won Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France.

While Gervinho has the ability to play as a central striker, he is at his best as a wide forward in a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 setup. Between Andrei Arshavin's questionable form and Samir Nasri's rumored departure, it's much more likely that Gervinho will play out wide than in the center in this coming Premier League season. In the event that Robin van Persie can stay healthy, the two players will probably strike up quite the deadly partnership.
The fee that Arsenal paid for Gervinho has not been disclosed, but previous rumors put the transfer fee in the neighborhood of £18 million.
