Miguel Cabrera Leaves All-Star Game Due To Stiffness In Side

Detroit Tigers first basemen Miguel Cabrera reportedly exited the 2011 MLB All-Star Game due to stiffness in his side. Minnesota's Michael Cuddyer took his place in the American League lineup.

This is Cabrera's sixth All-Star appearance of his eight-year career. The Detroit star grounded out to second against Atlanta's Jair Jurrjens to end the top of the sixth inning in his only at-bat of the game.

As of this point, the move only seems to be precautionary. Still, we will continue to provide updates regarding the injury as the situation develops further.

Cabrera is enjoying a fantastic season thus far with the Tigers. The 28-year old is currently batting .311, with 18 homeruns and 59 RBI.

The injury is the second to bubble up for the American Leauge during the day's festivities. Earlier in afternoon, Boston Red Sox pitcher Josh Beckett scratched himself from the game due to recurring knee soreness.
