As most of the football world is focusing on the NFL labor negotiations some are solely thinking about the approaching college football season. The college season will start on Thursday September 1st and no amount of money or problems will get in its way. While the NFL is very popular, college football boasts a large and passionate fanbase of their own. I for one cannot wait for the opening weekend of football.
The College Football Season Approaches
That weekend of September 1st has a ton of great matchups that are sure to excite. The reason we love college football is the impact each game has and teams like LSU, Oregon, and Boise State could find themselves in a hole with an opening day loss. The biggest game on the schedule is Oregon @ LSU where both teams are hoping to make a BCS Championship run. A loss for either team could very well mean the end of those championship hopes. Where else can the 1st game of the season have that kind of impact?
The Oregon @ LSU game is not the only intriguing matchup. I will be keeping a close watch on Boise St. @ Georgia and South Florida @ Notre Dame. Keep an eye out for an article leading up to the opening weekend outlining some of the key NFL draft prospect matchups. Also watch out for our updated big boards and prospect rankings.
What other opening weekend games are you looking forward to?
