Today's item comes as a curmudgeonly response to the 2011 All-Star Game's parade of relievers. It's a ticket from the 1966 Mid-Summer Classic in which the National League threw just four men at the Junior Circuit: Sandy Koufax, Jim Bunning, Juan Marichal and Gaylord Perry. Did NL manager Walter Alston know he was using four future Hall of Famers who would combine to win 846 games? Of course he did. Did I cherry-pick this game just to prove a point? Of course I did.
