Dwight Howard Considering Playing In China Next Season

Add Dwight Howard to the growing list off NBA superstars potentially willing to take their talents overseas. While touring Magala, Spain for a promotional event, the Orlando Magic center told reporters that he was toying with the idea.

“I’d have to think [about Europe] seriously, but it’s not a decision that should be made in a rush,” Howard said in Spain. “I think China has more options. I’ve thought about it a little bit, but not in depth. The big issue is the potential of injury.”

Along those the same lines, when asked by a fan over Twitter what the chances were of the All-Star following the same course as his NBA brethren, Howard responded, “pretty high. I got something up my sleeve.”

As time passes since the initial inception of the lockout, more and more NBA superstars are following the example set by New Jersey Nets star Deron Williams, who made waves last week by signing a one-year contract with the Turkish team Besiktas. Executive director of the Players Association Billy Hunter has backed the mass exodus to Europe, stating that it puts immense pressure on the owners.

A five-time All-Star, Howard is fresh of a season in which he averaged a career-high 22.9 points and 14.1 rebounds a game, while capturing his third consecutive Defensive Player of the Year award. The center has made the All-NBA First Team four straight years.
