In the wake of the NBA’s newest $1 million policy against employee-player interaction, a bevy of utterly ridiculous stories have been slowly dribbling to the surface. First there was the “yeah” incident, then there was the Twitter freeze out, and as always David Kahn found a way to get himself involved.
Michael Jordan Would Be Fined $1 Million For Playing Golf With Players
But now commissioner David Stern is reaching for the big guns.
Reports have surfaced claiming that the NBA has warned their quintessential golden goose, Michael Jordan, that he would incur the fine should he play as scheduled in the American Century Classic celebrity golf tournament. Why the big deal you ask?
Six NBA players are scheduled to participate in the charity tournament as well -- Boston Celtics guard Ray Allen, Sacramento Kings guard Jimmer Fredette, Dallas Mavericks guard Jason Kidd, Memphis Grizzlies forward Shane Battier, and New Jersey Nets guard Deron Williams.
Apparently a round of golf together is too close for comfort for a league insistent on forcing far-reaching group isolation. While it is somewhat surprising that the Charlotte Bobcats owner would be so publicly scolded like this given what he has done for the sport, it just goes to show how serious David Stern is treating this lockout.
