Busch joins the 100 club, crowns himself King: The New England 200 Review

Well, It was a wild one, but one we saw coming. Kyle Busch won his 100th NASCAR race, spread across three series (22 Cup Races, 29 Trucks Races, and 49 Nationwide Races). Those 49 wins also tied Mark Martin for most in the Nationwide Series. Busch outran Ricky Stenhouse and a host of others, and survived a wild wreck at the end of the race that saw Brian Scott check up into his friend Steve Wallace that set off a multi-car wreck.

Busch now sets his sights on winning a Cup Series championship, something he has yet to do. Kyle has probably locked himself into the Hall of Fame. The Haters claim that Busch doesn’t deserve to be in the Hall because so many of those wins are in the Nationwide Series. Those people should take a look at what the Hall of Fame really is, it’s not the Sprint Cup Hall of Fame after all - it’s the NASCAR Hall of Fame. I submit for you, Dale Inman, Crew Chief. Not a driver. Not a Sprint Cup Champion driver, but a Cup Champion Crew Chief. Glen Wood is also in for being owner of the 98 time winner Wood Brothers Racing. Bud Moore, car owner, Richie Evans is Whelen Modified and National Modified champion. Evans never raced in the Cup Series by the way. Winning 100 races across NASCAR should make Busch a future Hall of Famer. Plus, the guy is a year younger then me, and has about 15 or more good years ahead of him. I suspect we will be counting down to win number 200 before to long.

Bad luck seems to follow the Nationwide only drivers. Sorenson and Sadler both got wrecked but managed to finish the race. Stenhouse would up with another top 5, and closed the gap on Sadler. Here’s how the best battle in Nascar is going:

Pos Car Driver Points Wins
1 2 Elliott Sadler 673 0
2 32 Reed Sorenson 666 1
3 6 Ricky Stenhouse Jr. 655 1
4 31 Justin Allgaier 632 1
5 88 Aric Almirola 592 0
6 38 Jason Leffler 582 0
7 09 Kenny Wallace 571 0
8 66 Steve Wallace 525 0
9 62 Michael Annett 520 0
10 11 Brian Scott 510 0

Not much changed in the Owner’s Battle. Joe Gibbs still rules the roost after Busch brought home the trophy. Here’s how things look:

Pos Car # Owner Points
1 18 Joe Gibbs 722
2 32 Sandra Turner 695
3 2 Delana Harvick 673
4 60 Jack Roush 662
5 6 Jack Roush 655
6 33 Delana Harvick 650
7 22 Roger Penske 637
8 31 Steve Turner 632
9 20 Joe Gibbs 630
10 7 Kelley Earnhardt 599

And the stagnant locked in battle:

Pos Car # Owner Points
31 23 Robert Richardson Sr. 301
32 40 Curtis Key Sr. 268
33 52 Jimmy Means 261
34 141 Rick Ware 205
35 12 Roger Penske 159
36 44 Mark Smith 120

Next week we head to Lebanon, TN for the race at Nashville Speedway. Join us later in the week for a preview of the event! Enjoy!
