Matt Crafton snaps winless streak - The Coca-Cola 200 Review

The second NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race of the season sans Sprint Cup regulars spurred a first-time winner this season. Matt Crafton capitalized on the Iowa-dominant Austin Dillon’s poor pit stop and won Saturday night’s Coca-Cola 200. Crafton snapped a 79-race winless streak that dates back to Charlotte Motor Speedway in 2008 and moved to fifth in the points.
Dillon, who is no stranger to Victory Lane at Iowa Speedway, dominated the field for the majority of the night leading 127 of 200 laps. A sluggish pit stop knocked Dillon down to eighth and allowed The Onion, Todd Bodine, to lead a few laps. Bodine, who finally secured a ride for this race on Tuesday of this week, finished tenth.
Justin Marks was involved in a hard hit around the midway point of the race. He got loose and slammed hard into the pit wall destroying a section of the SAFER barrier. Marks emerged from the car appearing shaken and was taken to the hospital for further evaluation. NASCAR brought the race to a standstill briefly to repair the wall.
Crafton took the lead from Bodine with 38 to go, but not without challenge from Dillon. Crafton held him off and claimed his second career NCWTS win.
First-time pole sitter David Mayhew finished third.
Johnny Sauter remains your points leader. Austin Dillon, Cole Whitt, James Buescher, and Matt Crafton round out your Top 5.
NASCAR’s Camping World Truck Series will head back to Nashville Superspeedway July 22nd for the Lucas Deep Clean 200.
Race results are after the jump.
