NBA Schedule 2011-12 To Be Released Tuesday, Despite NBA Lockout

The NBA will release its full 2011/12 NBA schedule on Tuesday, despite the fact that it is currently mired in a lockout that could threaten part of or even the entire season. The announcement of the key games will air live on NBATV at 2 p.m. Eastern on Tuesday.

Reports have been trickling out with some of the games on the schedule. ESPN's Marc Stein reports that one of the opening games will pit the defending champion Dallas Mavericks against the Chicago Bulls on November 1. On Sunday, it was reported that the Christmas Day headliner would be a NBA Finals rematch between the Mavericks and the Miami Heat. All this, of course, assumes the season begins on time.

The 2011/12 NBA schedule announcement is coming two weeks earlier this season than last season because there is no free agency. Last year, the league waited for all the big-name free agents to make up their minds before going ahead with the release. But with no free agency this season because of the lockout, the league doesn’t have to wait.
