Jose Reyes Expected To Return To Mets’ Lineup Tuesday

According to reports, New York Mets All-Star shortstop Jose Reyes has announced that he expects to come off the disabled list before his the team opens their three-game series with the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday. Reyes has been recovering from a Grade 1 left hamstring strain incurred July 2nd while trying to beat out an infield single.

Monday afternoon the New York shortstop went 1-for-3 with a double at a rehab assignment with Class-A Brooklyn. Later in the day Reyes made his comeback plans quite clear.

“I expect to play [Tuesday]. Everything is good. I was able to move around in the field with no problem,” Reyes said following the game.

Reyes, who has enjoyed an incredible 2011 thus far, is hitting at a major league leading .354 average, with 32 RBI, and .398 OBP. The 28-year old four-time All-Star has also amassed 30 steals and 15 triples over 80 games.
