Myra Kraft ran the Robert And Myra Kraft Family Foundation and the New England Patriots Charitable Foundation. She also did charitable work for United Way.
“Myra led by example through her hands on commitment to bettering the communities we serve,” Michael Durkin, president and CEO of that United Way chapter, said in a statement. “While Myra will be deeply missed, her legacy of kindness to all will remain a beacon of hope in trying times.”
She was also known for her support of Israel.
Robert Kraft, who became owner of the Patriots in 1994, had been involved in NFL Lockout negotiations during his wife’s illness.
Myra Kraft rarely involved herself with the workings of the Patriots, but her voice was important in the Patriots’ decision to release 1996 fifth-round pick Christian Peter shortly after he was drafted, due to his history of sexual assault.
