John Brantley Looks to Rebuild Draft Stock

Entering last season, John Brantley faced a ton of pressure as he was charged with the task of replacing the beloved Tim Tebow. This was a ton of pressure because he not only had to replace the on the field production but also the hole left in the fan's hearts. The problem is that Brantley is not Time Tebow and his skills didn't fit well with Florida's playing style.

Due to Urban Meyer’s resignation, Brantley has been given another opportunity to cash in on his tremendous talent. The coaching changes at Florida allows Brantley to learn under offensive guru Charlie Weis. With the addition of Weis comes a pro style offense more conducive to Brantley’s skills. Expect to see more snaps under center, play action, and less designed quarterback runs.

Brantley possesses a good strong arm with a quick throwing motion. His balance in the pocket helps him deliver a catchable football. However, his struggles last season did not go unnoticed and he needs to show major improvement in order to be considered a draftable player. He needs to improve on his 9 touchdown and 10 interception season by showing he can make plays while taking care of the football.

Basically, Brantley has a rare opportunity to have a do over and try to rebuild his once promising career. I will be keeping a close eye on his production throughout the season and trying to determine if he is a legitimate NFL prospect.
