Linebacker Quincy Black has re-signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to reports by Adam Caplan. The deal is reportedly worth $29 million over 5 years, with $11.5 million guaranteed.
Buccaneers Re-Sign LB Quincy Black To Five-Year Contract, According To Report
Black was drafted in the third round of the 2007 NFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After receiving limited playing time his first two years, the 27-year old became the team's starting strong side linebacker before the ‘09-‘10 season. The move immediately paid dividends, as Black amassed 145 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and two interceptions over the next two years.
The signing of Black decreases the likelihood that Tampa Bay will be able to re-sign fellow linebacker Barrett Ruud. Several teams have expressed significant interest in Ruud, with the Buffalo Bills currently serving as the most talked about suitor. Should Ruud leave, rookie Mason Foster is likely candidate to fill his starting spot.
