Free agent wide receiver Lance Moore announced via Twitter Wednesday afternoon that he will be re-signing with the New Orleans Saints. Terms of the deal have not yet been released, though Moore made it clear that it would be for five years.
Lance Moore Says He’s Re-Signed With New Orleans Saints
The news had to be welcome for Moore, an individual who had a tough road to the NFL. Undrafted out of Toledo in 2005, the 27-year-old initially entered into league with the Cleveland Browns, but was quickly released. He then joined the New Orleans practice squad, eventually being transferred to NFL Europe, where he played for the Berlin Thunder.
In 2007 he finally began to make his mark, climbing his way into the fifth receiver spot. What followed was a breakout season in 2008, in which Moore caught 79 balls for 928 yards, and 10 touchdowns, becoming a fan favorite in the process.
After an injury riddled 2009, Moore rebounded with another strong season in 2010, amassing 66 receptions for 763 yards, and eight touchdowns. In his five years with the Saints he has slowly become one of Drew Brees' most trusted targets, and will continue to pair up across fellow wide receiver Marques Colston.
