The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are moving quickly to get their draft picks under contract. After agreeing to terms with Iowa defensive end and first-round pick Adrian Clayborn on Tuesday, they’ve reached a deal with second-rounder Da’Quan Bowers, out of Clemson.
Da’Quan Bowers Signs With Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Bowers confirmed on Twitter that the deal is done.
“Feels good to finally be a buc officially,” Bowers tweeted. “Dotted line signed.”
Bowers was long regarded as one of the top talents, if not the top talent, in the 2011 NFL Draft, but a knee injury caused him to fall all the way to the Bucs at No. 51.
Now, though, Bowers says he has passed the Bucs’ physical and is ready to go in training camp. If his knee actually is in good shape, the Bucs stand to get a ton of value out of the No. 51 overall pick in the draft, and there’s the potential for lots of teams to kick themselves for not picking him earlier.
