San Diego Chargers Re-Sign Antwan Barnes

The San Diego Chargers have been busy so far in the brief offseason, and their most recent order of business has been re-signing outsidle linebacker Antwan Barnes to a two-year deal.

Barnes played for the Baltimore Ravens from 2007 to 2009 before starting the 2010 season with the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles released him and the Chargers grabbed him to plug a hole in an injury-riddled defense. Barnes won't be mistaken for a star, and he's more of a role player than anything else. But he was a pleasant surprise for the Bolts on the pass rush for the rest of 2010, picking up 4.5 sacks in his 11 games for San Diego.

The New York Jets had also reportedly been pursuing him.

With the recent signings of Barnes, Eric Weddle and Takeo Spikes, the Chargers may not be able to re-sign inside linebacker Kevin Burnett.
