Johnathan Joseph Agrees To Five-Year Deal With Texans, According To Report

Prized free agent cornerback Johnathan Joseph has reached an agreement with the Houston Texans, according to reports by ESPN's Adam Schefter. The deal is reportedly for five years.

Drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in the first round of the 2006 Draft, Joseph entered the league with high expectations after a stellar collegiate career at South Carolina. Throughout his five years in Cincinnati, the 27-year-old evolved into one of the league's most underrated defensive backs, teaming with Leon Hall to form the AFC North's premium cornerback duo.

In 2009, Joseph compiled his best year, nabbing six interceptions and holding opposing quarterbacks to a 67.8 passer rating in attempts against him. He leaves the Bengals with 272 tackles, 14 interceptions, 76 passes deflected, and three touchdowns in 67 games.

Joesph will shore up a Texans secondary that ranked dead last against the pass last year. However, the move likely takes Houston out of the Nnamdi Asomugha sweepstakes, increasing the probability of the former-Raider signing with the New York Jets.
