Julio Jones, Atlanta Falcons Reportedly Agree To Contract

Rookie wide receiver Julio Jones signed a four-year contract with the Atlanta Falcons late Thursday night. The deal includes $16.2 million guaranteed. Jones' signing ensures that the Falcons have locked up their entire rookie class before the start of training camp on Friday.

After a stellar collegiate career in Alabama -- and by-all-accounts an incredible NFL combine showing -- many expected Jones to shoot up the draft board. The Falcons took heed, wheeling and dealing with the Cleveland Browns to trade up and take the 22-year-old with the sixth overall pick. In all, Atlanta traded five draft picks for Jones -- the 27th, 59th, and 124th picks from the 2011 draft, and a first and fourth round pick in 2012.

Despite the new rookie cap scale, Jones is soon to be a rich man. Thursday’s finalized deal will add to the income he is already receiving after signing a multi-year deal with Under Armour in late February.

Falcons fifth-round pick Jacquizz Rodgers also signed with the team late Thursday night. His deal is expected to cover four years.
