Jon Beason Reportedly Agrees To Deal With Carolina Panthers

Drew Rosenhaus might as well be added to the Carolina Panthers payroll after the past 48 hours he has had. After negotiating Charles Johnsons’ monstrous contract, and organizing a trade for Greg Olsen, the big name agent has now made franchise mainstay Jon Beason the highest paid inside linebacker in NFL history. The team re-signed the four-year veteran to a 5-year extension worth $50 million, with $25 million guaranteed, according to reports from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Drafted with the 27th pick of the 2007 draft, Beason quickly made his mark on the NFL, collecting 140 tackles in his rookie season to finish second in Defensive Rookie of the Year voting. The 26-year-old followed up the early success with three consecutive Pro Bowl seasons and two All-Pro selections. In four years with Carolina, Beason has amassed a staggering 541 tackles, 29 pass deflections, eight interceptions, and four sacks.

The re-signing ensures that the each core member of the young Carolina defense will remain together for years to come. With all the moves they have made in this offseason, the Panthers suddenly appear to have a very bright future.
