The Chicago Cubs lost on Saturday. This is not news. What is news is that they almost scored five runs on only two hits, which would have been only the 11th time a team has done that. Instead, they got a hit in the ninth inning, making them the 73rd team to score five or more runs on three or fewer hits. Not quite as impressive.
Go Cubs, Go. No, Really. Just Go.
↵The good news is that while looking at those Play Index lists, I found the sloppiest game ever played. After the A’s went up 3-0 on a first-inning homer on 4/12/94, they didn’t get another hit. They won 8-4.
