NFL Free Agency 2011: Falcons Re-Sign Guard Justin Blalock

The Atlanta Falcons have agreed to terms with starting left guard Justin Blalock, the team announced.

Blalock joins right tackle Tyson Clabo as free agents on the Falcons' offensive line that have re-signed with the team. The one member of the team's trifecta of free agent O-Linemen who didn't re-sign was left guard Harvey Dahl. Dahl agreed to a four-year contract with the St. Louis Rams.

Blalock has been a rock for the Falcons, starting every game the past three seasons and 14 his rookie year. Continuity is often the most important part of any successful line, so re-signing Blalock and Clabo will likely pay dividends for Matt Ryan as he plays with his new toys, Julio Jones and Jacquizz Rodgers, this season.

Furthermore, with the addition of DE Ray Edwards, and, Dahl's signing notwithstanding, retaining their major free agents, the Falcons seem primed for another deep playoff run. Whether they can beat the Eagles is still in serious question, as it is for all teams in the league right now.
