Mark Brunell's at the tail end of his NFL career, but he's likely to be in hot pursuit of a second Super Bowl ring in 2011: he's re-signed with the Jets, and will back up Mark Sanchez as New York looks to improve on two straight AFC Championship Game losses.
Mark Brunell Re-Signs With New York Jets
Brunell was a long-time starter for the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Washington Redskins before moving into a backup role. Since 2007, Brunell has only thrown 42 passes in regular season games, though he did throw for two touchdowns on just six completions in 2010. He will back up Sanchez, but may have moved up on the Jets' depth chart after the departure of Kellen Clemens.
Brunell won a Super Bowl ring with the New Orleans Saints, who beat the Indianapolis Colts in Super Bowl 44 with Brunell serving as Drew Brees' backup and the holder.
