Rookie Depth Chart Battles: Greg Little

More and more NFL rookies are expected to contribute early in their careers. However, for them to make an impact they need to beat out a veteran player. We are going to analyze the situation of specific rookies and determine the likely hood of them winning a position battle.

Player: Greg Little

Team: Cleveland Browns

Position: Wide Receiver

Competition: Chansi Stuckey, Carlton Mitchell, Brian Robiskie, Josh Cribbs, Mohamed Massaquoi

Chance of winning the battle: 60 percent

Thoughts: Cleveland is continuing their rebuilding project and it appears they are on the right track. The wide receiver position has been a bit of a black hole as they have had little success finding a top notch target. Players such as Braylon Edwards and Mohamed Massaquoi have shown promise but neither has be able to take the next step to be the long term answer at the position.

Greg Little was selected in the 2nd round because of his rare combination of size and speed. He has the talent to be a true #1 receiver but there are questions about his maturity. Little was among several North Carolina players that missed the entire 2011 season due to off the field issues. He also has shown inappropriate actions on the field including punting a ball into the stands and arguing with his quarterback.

Little has as much if not more talent than anyone on the roster but unless he is completely focused he will not earn snaps. The Browns need him to become a consistent playmaker and help take some pressure off of Mohamed Massaquoi who has shown a lot of promise.
