The college football season is creeping closer and closer which means it is time to start ranking draft prospects. These rankings will be subject to change throughout the season. Each week the players will either help or hurt their draft stock impacting the position ranking. Don't forget that someone always emerges and becomes a surprise top prospect, like Nick Fairley.
Dove’s 2012 NFL Draft Rankings: Safety
The 2011 safety group was less than impressive and this class doesn’t appear to be much better. However, they have high upside players like Ray Ray Armstrong and Tony Dye. Ultimately, the depth and potential of this position depends on development. Kenny Tate is the most consistent of the group and could make a push for a late 1st round selection. However, he needs to improve his coverage ability to avoid being typecasted as a run stopping safety.
After the jump, check out my preseason safety rankings for the 2012 NFL Draft.
