After impressing on loan for Wigan Athletic in the 2010-11 English Premier League season, helping to keep the club in the top flight after a shaky season, Wigan are reported to have agreed with Ali Al-Habsi's club, Bolton Wanderers, on a fee for the Oman international. Between Jussi Jaaskelainen being one of the most consistent and consistently healthy keepers in the Premier League and Chris Kirkland having a shaky couple of years, Al-Habsi's opportunities at Wigan were always going to be better than they were at Bolton.
Wigan Agree Deal With Bolton To Sign Goalkeeper Ali Al-Habsi
Bolton reportedly rejected the first three bids that Wigan made for the player before settling on a fee of £4 million. At 29 years old and with a couple of years of sitting on the bench in the Premier League behind him, Al-Habsi is still reasonably young and fresh for a goalkeeper, so picking him up for that small of a fee could prove to be a great piece of business for Wigan.
