Reliever Luke Gregerson returns to the active roster.Richard was having a mediocre year, his 3.88 as much the product of his home ballpark as anything else. His strikeout rate had dropped precipitously this season, so a shoulder issue is less than surprising.
Gregerson has a 2.63 ERA for the Padres in 27-1/3 innings this year, which gives him the 12th-best ERA in the Padres’ bullpen.
