Matt Light Signs Two-Year Contract To Stay With New England Patriots

Thought there was never really any major doubt that he was going to stay with the New England Patriots, as of the beginning of training camp Matt Light was still a free agent. The little speculation over his future ended Monday morning, as the left tackle signed a new two-year contract with the Pats.

Light, who is 33 years old, was a free agent for the first time in his career this offseason. He's been the Patriots' left tackle for the entirety of Tom Brady's career with the Patriots, so it's no surprise that the player and team had a mutual interest in his return. Before re-signing with the Patriots, Light did not visit any other teams.

With Light returning to the team, the Patriots will start the season with the same five starting offensive linemen as they used last season, barring any preseason injuries. For more on the New England Patriots, visit SB Nation’s Pats blog Pats Pulpit.
