WR Jerricho Cotchery Joining Pittsburgh Steelers, According To Report

Free agent wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery has agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

A fourth-round pick out of North Carolina State in 2004 by the New York Jets, Cotchery caught 358 passes for 4,514 yards and 18 touchdowns during his seven seasons in the Big Apple before he was released late last week, creating $1.8 million in space under the salary cap and freeing up a roster spot for the addition of veteran wide receiver Derrick Mason.

Cotchery visited the Steelers on Sunday, but left without a contract and paid a visit to the Baltimore Ravens. Cotchery had undergone back surgery in February, and the Jets cited a "failed physical" when releasing him. Reports out of Baltimore were that there no problems with Cotchery's physical with the Ravens' medical staff.

The AFC North rivals were interested in the 29-year-old Cotchery to address their lack of experienced depth at the receiver position.
