The world's longest transfer saga has finally come to an end. Early Monday afternoon in Spain, now former Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas signed a contract with FC Barcelona and was introduced as a Barcelona player in a press conference. He will be taking over the No. 4 jersey, the same number that he wore at Arsenal. His contract is a five-year deal and according to Spanish football journalist Sid Lowe, Barcelona will pay Arsenal €29 million in two guaranteed payments, €1m per year during the contract and a possible €5m in escalators.

It’s finally over, and now the talk about Barcelona’s tactics and Arsenal’s future can truly begin in earnest. Barcelona have an over-crowded midfield, and Fabregas will struggle to gain a starting place. Meanwhile, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has just half of one month to make a couple of major signings or fear the wrath of his fanbase.
