Logan Morrison’s Demotion: What Are The Marlins Thinking?

He’s a Twitter hound, and the Marlins have already asked him to tone it down a bit. Whether he was engaging trolls for a few yuks or jawing at beat writers, Morrison was rarely dull. A good TV show is rarely dull. A malfunctioning car alarm is rarely dull. Morrison is somewhere on that rarely dull spectrum, and by sending him down to the minors, the Marlins seem to be on #teamcaralarm.
While it seems like Morrison’s filter-free approach is the obvious reason he was sent down, the outfielder himself isn’t so sure:

Even with his struggles, Morrison owns a 114 OPS+ that’s among the best on the team. Given that, there’s suspicion that Morrison’s demotion involves an off-the-field component, and president of baseball operations Larry Beinfest did little to suggest otherwise:
Morrison is among baseball’s more candid athletes, and his Twitter account has gotten him into trouble on more than one occasion. The Marlins would probably prefer that he be a little less open about certain things, and though they won’t admit outright that Morrison’s character has something to do with this move, they didn’t deny it when given the chance.
