The New York Jets have offered a one-year contract to free agent linebacker Aaron Maybin, according to reports by New York Daily News beat writer Manish Mehta. Terms of the offer have not been disclosed.
Aaron Maybin, Former First-Round Pick, Receives Offer From New York Jets
Mehta indicates that the Jets are among five or six teams that have offered Maybin a similar contract. The 23-year-old is expected to make his decision tomorrow.
A former first round pick of the Buffalo Bills, Maybin entered into the NFL under the great weight of expectations after a stellar collegiate career at Penn State. Yet, the young linebacker could never find his place within the Bills franchise, and amassed just 24 tackles in his first two years in the league.
Unwilling to press on with the disappointing prospect, Buffalo general manager Buddy Nix elected to release Maybin to free agency before the start of the regular season.
