After just nine minutes of play, Bayern Munich have the lead that most would have expected them to take early on over FC Zurich at the Allianz Arena. This might be an exercise in damage control for the visitors, as Bayern look better right now than they did in either of their first two Bundesliga matches. Arjen Robben and Bastian Schweinsteiger were the two men who combined for the goal, and Zurich look to have a serious uphill battle on their hands.
Bayern Munich Vs. FC Zurich, UEFA Champions League: Bastian Schweinstiger, Arjen Robben Combine For Opening Goal
The goal came after a set piece had been cleared away, leaving some bodies in slightly unfamiliar territory during open play. One such player was Schweinsteiger, who lurked at the back post as Robben ran onto the ball and put in a cross from the left flank. The German international got on the end of the cross and nodded it into the back of the net, giving Bayern a deserved 1-0 lead.
Shortly afterwards, Mario Gomez hit the post with a fantastic shot. It looks like it's only a matter of time before Bayern add a second. They're completely on the front foot and absolutely battering Zurich.
