Olin Kreutz Not Retiring, Will Look For New Team

Former Chicago Bears center Olin Kreutz had been thinking about retiring after losing his longtime job to new acquisition Chris Spencer, but he appears to have changed his mind.

After a few days of reflection, former Bears C Olin Kreutz isn’t going to retire. He wants to play for the right team.

Kreutz made six Pro Bowls as a Bear, but had lost a step. He’ll surely latch on somewhere if he wants to, but he might not be assured of a starting job. Spencer is almost five years younger.

Spencer, for his part, has expressed deference to the player he’s replacing.

“It’s part of the business,” the 6-foot-3, 309-pound seventh-year veteran said. “A guy’s taking over for me in Seattle, and I respect the (heck) out of Olin.

”He’s been a great guy for me to watch over the years. I’m just coming in here to play my game and do what I can do to help this team win.

We'll see where Kreutz ends up. The San Francisco 49ers, who are currently looking at options like Jonathan Goodwin to be their starting center, might be one possibility.
