Surprise! The SEC have the most teams in the preseason AP Poll, just like they did in the preseason coaches poll. The exact same eight teams appear in both polls, but the Coaches' Poll gives them a little more love than the new AP Poll. The biggest difference between the two is in the rankings of the Auburn Tigers and Georgia Bulldogs, on whom the press and coaches appear to have different opinions.
College Football Rankings: SEC Places Eight Teams In Preseason AP Top 25
Auburn were ranked No. 19 in the Coaches’ Poll, but are four spots lower at No. 23 in the AP Poll. Meanwhile, Georgia are three spots higher in the AP than they are in the Coaches’ coming in at No. 19 and No. 22, respectably.
The best representative for the SEC in the Coaches' Poll are the Alabama Crimson Tide, who come in at No. 2. The LSU Tigers were voted No. 4, but there's a drop-off after that, with the remaining six SEC teams in the Top 25 making up what looks like a large second tier below the top two.
