With college head coach Jim Tressel in attendance, former Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor did what everyone expected at his personal work out.
Terrelle Pryor’s workout shows expected athleticism, average passing skill
In front of 17 NFL teams, Pryor showed off his athleticism in hopes of being picked in the 2011 Supplemental Draft. The trouble for Pryor is that he also had to show off his ability to be a quarterback at the next level. Of course it was the 40-yard dash that received the most notoriety online for the 6-foot-5, 232-pound quarterback.
It’s a good thing, then, that Pryor’s agent Drew Rosenhaus said his client will “play any position asked,” according to Albert Breer of NFL Network. Rosenhaus also noted that Pryor won’t appeal the NCAA’s five-game suspension the NFL is upholding.
After his workout, Pryor told reporters that he wants a chance to play quarterback, but will play any position he’s asked to.
Rosenhaus told those in attendance that Pryor ran a 4.4 40-yard dash, but “he slipped” on the soft field turf. On his second try, Pryor anywhere between the 4.31 he and Rosenhaus said and 4.41 a scout told Zac Jackson of Fox Sports Ohio. Pryor registered a 31-inch vertical jump.
Those in attendance noted that personnel from the Buffalo Bills, Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, Dallas Cowboys, Detroit Lions, Indianapolis Colts, Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots New Orleans Saints, Oakland Raiders, Pittsburgh Steelers, San Diego Chargers, San Francisco 49ers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Washington Redskins. The Philadelphia Eagles sent two representatives. Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin was also in attendance, though Pittsburgh’s training camp is nearby.
Breer noted on Twitter that Pryor completed 27 of his 39 passes to moving targets and counted four drops during his scripted throwing session. Pryor's workout partners included running back Kevin Smith and wide receiver Alric Arnett, both formerly of the Detroit Lions and former Buffalo Bills running back Andre Anderson.
One team has already been outspoken saying they’re not taking Pryor. That would be the Indianapolis Colts. Here’s what owner Jim Irsay had to say on Twitter:

The 2011 NFL Supplemental Draft takes place Monday at 1 p.m.
Five other players are eligible for the supplemental draft. They are Western Carolina defensive back Torez Jones, Georgia running back Caleb King, Lindenwood defensive end Keenan Mace, North Carolina defensive end Michael McAdoo and Northern Illinois safety Tracy Wilson.
In the supplemental draft, NFL teams place a bid on a player they want with a corresponding draft pick. The team that bids the highest round pick is awarded the player and loses that pick in the next standard draft.
Pryor was one of six Ohio State players suspended for the first five games of the college football season for trading memorabilia for cash and discounted tattoos. He chose to give up his final year of eligibility for a chance to enter the supplemental draft.
