When we put the spotlight on someone else’s mock draft, it’s because the mock is notable or comes from a “name” site.
Rock out with your mock draft out: Walter Football
In the case of the latest Walter Football mock draft, it’s because there’s something notable. Throughout the offseason, most mock drafts have had the Washington Redskins picking first overall. Not this one.
Instead, the Miami Dolphins are the winners and/or losers of the Suck for Luck campaign. As expected, Southern California's Matt Barkley is mocked to the Seahawks third overall. The expectations for Tarvaris Jackson are low.
The site is basing much of its draft position on what’s been happening in the preseason, which is dangerous. After all, the Indianapolis Colts are probably the league’s worst preseason team over the last five years.
One other thing to on mock draft is where the Cleveland Browns are picking. As a Browns fan, I may be biased, but its the first thing I look for in a mock. It's simple, really. If the Browns are picking in the top 10 again, it's because second-year quarterback Colt McCoy most likely turned out to be unsuitable for the NFL.
Conversely, if the Browns are outside the top 10, it's likely because McCoy did good things in the team's West Coast offense. Here, the Browns are picking 12th and appropriately given linebacker Vontaze Burfict.
This mock is also notable because it goes a full two rounds. In August, that sort of thing is both impressive and foolish.
